This scholarship applies to a maximum of two children from a single family and demands verification by both the beneficiaries and the relevant zonal Railways/RPSF.

Courses Eligible Under PMSS Scholarship for RPF/RPSF

Eligible Courses:

  • Professional Degree Courses Recognized by Government Regulatory Bodies:

Ineligibility:

  • Master Degree Courses, except MBA and MCA, are not eligible for PMSS.
  • No eligibility for courses pursued abroad.
  • Distance learning programs are not permitted under this scheme.

Course Limitation:

  • PMSS supports enrollment for one course only.

Duration and Order of Preference of the Scholarship

The scholarship will be awarded for a period ranging from two to five years, aligned with the duration of the respective course pursued by the student.

In cases where the number of applications exceeds the available scholarships, the allotment will follow a specific order of preference:

Category Description
Category (I) Wards/widows of ex-RPF/RPSF personnel who died in harness due to causes attributed to encounter with terrorist or with criminals while protecting Railway Property, Passengers and Passenger Area or those who die during election work.
Category (II) Wards/Widows of ex-RPF/RPSF personnel who died while in service.
Category (III) Wards of ex-RPF/RPSF (retired) personnel.
Category (IV) Wards of serving RPF/RPSF personnel.

Minimum Entry Qualification (MEQ) Under PMSS for RPF

At least 60% marks/equivalent grade in MEQ for entry to various Professional Courses for the initial sanction of scholarship. MEQ for various courses are as under:

How to Apply for the PMSS Scholarship for RPF?

The PMSS for RPF (Ministry of Railways) is managed through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP2.0). To apply for the scholarship for the academic year 2023-24 and beyond, eligible candidates must apply online at www.scholarship.gov.in. The Security Directorate, Railway Board, will compile the final list of eligible candidates and submit it to the Prime Minister’s Office.

Applicants must have a mobile number to register on the National Scholarships Portal, where they’ll receive a One Time Password (OTP) for further processing. Each mobile number can be used for a maximum of two registrations. Students need to ensure that their college/institute/university is registered with AISHE and has an AISHE Code/Regulation.

  • Service Certificate from the serving personnel’s respective office (Category IV)
  • Copy of PPO/Discharge certificate/book for Categories I, II, and III

For Renewal Applicants:

  • Latest Service Certificate from the serving personnel’s respective office (Category IV)
  • Scanned copy of the previous class mark-sheet/Grade card/Proof of upgradation to the next class issued by the competent authority

  • First-level verification (L-1) is done by the Institute Nodal Officer (INO), who should be a permanent or regular employee of the institute.
  • Second-level verification (L-2) is carried out by the Zonal Nodal Officer (ZNO).
